Streeterville is named for a ship's captain who crashed his ship on a
sandbar in Lake Michigan during a storm. He then started collecting
discarded materials and built housing along the lake and started
charging rent. Located along the Magnificent Mile and Lake Michigan, it
borders the Gold Coast and also embodies all things trendy, upscale,
and luxurious in Chicago. Streeterville is also home to Navy Pier, the
Museum of Contemporary Art, the forthcoming Spire, and several city
parks. Northwestern University's medical and law schools call
Streeterville home as does the University of Chicago's Graduate School
of Business. Public transportation includes the Red El line and buses.
